Add your name to stop endless construction noise

Many of our neighbours are suffering as a result of excessive construction happening around them. People are being startled awake as early as 6am, with no respite until 10pm.

With a stay-at-home order in place, many have no option other than to endure the drilling and blasting, which is taking a toll on their mental health.

This also poses a risk to workers, as construction sites have been flagged by experts as a major source of workplace outbreaks.

As a result of provincial regulation, the city of Ottawa cannot limit when residential construction can take place, until October 2021.

Luxury condo construction, or renovations that do not consist of critical maintenance work, is not essential construction and it is reckless to allow its continuation without any reasonable limits.

We are calling on the government to put a pause on non-essential residential construction until after the stay-at-home order is lifted, and allow cities to once again regulate construction noise in the public interest.
