Ford hurting Ontario’s most vulnerable during COVID-19 with ODSP download to cities

Published on February 12, 2021

OTTAWA –  Doug Ford is going after Ontario’s most vulnerable people during this pandemic by downloading ODSP onto cities, said NDP critic for Accessibility and Persons with Disabilities, Joel Harden, in response to Ford’s announcement on Thursday.

“After telling disabled people on ODSP to get a job, Doug Ford is now hurting the provinces’ most vulnerable people by refusing to take responsibility for them.  He’s telling cash-strapped cities to provide the supports people with disabilities need because he refuses to.  He’s sitting on billions in COVID-fighting funds, and instead of helping Ontario’s most vulnerable, he’s ripping away support from people with disabilities.  It’s despicable, and New Democrats will fight this so that people with disabilities are supported, and given the assistance they need during this crisis."
