Yumna’s Walls in Ottawa

On June 6, 2021, our country saw another lethal Islamophobic attack in London, Ontario. Four members of a London, Ontario family lost their lives. We have heard since that speeches, thoughts and prayers are not enough.

After a national summit on Islamophobia, now is a time for action. With that in mind, we are hosting an event inspired by Yumna Salman who was among the four family members killed in London on June 6, 2021.

Yumna painted a beautiful mural at her school, a picture of it is above. Her mural communicated a positive vision of Islam, and inspiring messages for children.

On March 21, 2022, we are hosting an event to create more “Yumna’s Walls”. This will involve creating small murals on the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination declared by the United Nations.

Join us to hear from speakers, share some good food and create art for Islamophobia. Supplies will be provided.

This event is open to everyone. RSVP below to let us know you're coming.

Notes: This event will be held in person. We will be checking vaccine status at the door, and masks will be required during the event.
