MPP Harden calls on Ford for urgent help to stop growing COVID-19 crisis in Ottawa

Published on October 2, 2020

OTTAWA -  NDP MPP for Ottawa Centre, Joel Harden, said Doug Ford needs to act now after Ottawa’s Chief Medical Officer said Friday that the city’s health care system is in crisis, with hospitals and long-term care homes stretched to capacity.

“Doug Ford knew the crisis was growing in Ottawa, he allowed the lines for COVID tests to stretch for hours, while infections spread, because he wanted to save money instead of spending it on public health.

Today we have a record number of COVID-19 cases. Our chief medical officer is sounding the alarm, telling us that our testing capacity is nearly broken, and how our hospitals and long-term care homes have almost reached their capacity.

Doug Ford must stop withholding help for Ottawa now to stave off tragedy before it’s too late.”
