QUEEN’S PARK - NDP critic for Seniors, Joel Harden (Ottawa Centre) made the following statement on National Seniors Day 2020:
 
"Seniors are our parents, grandparents, friends and family.  They take care of us and they built this province.  They deserve to age with dignity. COVID-19 has exposed how too many seniors are forced to endure living conditions which are inadequate or unsafe. The crisis in long-term care, and the toll it has taken on seniors, is a national tragedy, and it compels us to demand better.  
 
As your official opposition, we will hold accountable both this government and profiteers in the long-term care industry.   We will also continue proposing real solutions to improve senior care, so all older adults receive the support they need.  
 
On National Seniors Day, let’s recommit to building a truly age-friendly society where every senior is valued, respected and safe."
